Fantasy Baseball Dispute Service

We don’t need this service in my league as we have a fairly dictatorial way of settling disputes (the Commish has the final say after everyone voices thier opinion), but since this link came up by way of my Google advertisements, I was even tempted to check it out (and I thought nobody really clicked on Google ads).

Calling themselves Roto-Umpires there is no doubt these guys will analyze your trades and other disputes well. They have a complete chart that shows you how they determine whether a trade is fair or not, its pretty cool.

As I said, our leagues wouldn’t have a need for this, but if you are interested, the service costs $15 for one incident, $50 for five incidents and $75 for ten incidents…I have no affiliation with this site, just thought it was cool. If you want to see an example of a 2004 trade they analyzed, I have included that here. Players traded from Team A: Edgar Renteria ($21) and Jerry Hairston ($11)

Players traded from Team B: Vincente Padilla ($12) and Mike Lowell ($22)

Here is the recommendation from the Fantasy Baseball RotoUmpire Service.

General resolution:

The inclusion of Hairston makes this deal difficult. If Hairston weren’t out for the year, we could definitely see this as being equitable, especially given Lowell’s struggles. But, since we don’t view Hairston as much of a keeper, the deal comes down to Padilla and Lowell for Renteria. Even though Lowell has been pretty poor, his first half suggests that he is a threat to put up a string of big games. Renteria is having a much less notable season than last year, and Padilla is doing well in the time he’s been in the rotation. We think this falls just short of being fair. We rate this trade a 3 and recommend that the deal not be allowed to stand.

Individual Player Notes:

Renteria is not having nearly the year he had last year, but you shouldn’t have expected him to. His numbers are more in line with 2000/01, and that’s pretty much the type of year you should expect.

Hairston just couldn’t get it going this year between a crowded lineup and injuries, and he’s currently out for the season. His numbers don’t really warrant keeping him at $16, especially if he goes into next season with Brian Roberts still around.

If it weren’t for the injury, Padilla would likely have numbers right in line with either of the past 2 seasons. He’s a solid pitcher, and can help in all 4 starter categories.

After a huge first half, Lowell has only 4 HR since the All-Star break. It’s actually very disappointing as it doesn’t appear as if he’s even going to match last years numbers. Taking a snapshot of this moment, his numbers aren’t bad, but for the second half he’s been almost useless.
