Here Comes Ricky
Ricky Williams “absolutely” plans to rejoin the Miami Dolphins after retiring before the 2004/2005 season. William’s agent Leigh Steinberg said that “Ricky’s made the decision he wants to play again.” Apparently due to his relationship with coach Nick Saban, Ricky has been dreaming of football while he smokes the good stuff and Steinberg said the Ricky and Saban had “some steady dialogue in the last 10 days.”
So the questions is will Ricky be any good? Will Ricky’s teammates welcome him back? Will Sammy Morris (the Dolphin’s leading rusher last season) ask for a trade? Will Ricky be able to stay clean all season? Will Ricky get some of his $8 million signing bonus back? Will Ricky quit on his teammates again when the media attention gets tough? Will Ricky keep his helmet on when talking to the media? Will he talk to the media at all?
One thing is for sure, if Ricky does come back, he will not do so officially until after July. If he un-retires before August, he would face a one year suspension for his violation of the league’s substance abuse policy, however if he waited until August, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said that “He owes a four-game suspension provided he comes back after the one-year anniversary of his retirement.”
Vote in our poll to the right as to whether you would let Ricky back on your team.
ABC News has an article on it here if you think I’m full of it.

There is no doubt that Ricky wants back in, but he needs to back his way in to do it. Two years ago he decided to give up the good life, to persue, well, the good life. Little does he still relize but that selfish decision to hit the beaches of Thailand, not only cost him on a personal level, but he is now blackballed in the NFL world forever. He did the unthinkable, turn his back on his team mates. Now while this happens all the time in sports today (Randy Moss, Vince “traitor” Carter) what Ricky did was the worst. In the NFL the draft is so important, that having a bad draft or losing your key player can set a team back for years. By the looks of the dolphins season last year, and their disorganized mini camps so far this year, it looks like years could mean a decade
