Shot In The Foot

My fantasy keeper league only allows moves to be put in every Sunday. So after trading for Chipper Jones last week (I was replacing and upgrading from the injured Corey Koskie), I was all over the wire on Sunday to see if he would be in the lineup or perhaps was even going on the DL. Alas there he was, ready to be the superstar I had traded for, to vault my team from a tight race for third place into one challenging for the lead (there are 14 teams by the way).

He plays the whole game, and in the 8th fouls a ball off his foot. Then he went down. I’ve seen this guy pretty much run through other infielders and so when he hits the ground wincing in pain, I know it can’t be good.

According to ESPN, he was examined by Dr. Joe Chandler, the team orthopedist, on Monday and was scheduled for an MRI Tuesday.

“He needs to rest it and if he needs surgery he’ll have surgery,” Braves manager Bobby Cox said before tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Angels. “We’ll see what happens.”

The once a week moves keeps our league pretty tight (plus you only get two drops that are not DL moves), but its when a guy goes down on a Monday that you look at the box-scores for the rest of the week thinking FU&K ME!
