Man I get a lot of email about this post…So once again I am bumping it to the front page for easy access.

I must admit that I think the Reebok ads (if you are interested in more on the campaing, visit Adrants) featuring Allen Iverson and Jay-Z are simply amazing. If you haven’t seen them, they are now online at RBK.com and are worth the visit (also lots of wallpaper there). A friend of mine was crazy enough to transcribe the A.I. commercial so I include that here. The best line of the whole campaign is when Jay-Z turns to his tailor and says “Simon have you ever bought a Jay-Z album?” The response is a perfectly subtle “Oh, of course sir.”

“I don’t know I mean people have so many perceptions of me. People think I’m just, you know, I’m always on the tough side trying to be somebody I’m not. I’m not a gansta, you know, I’m not a thug, I’m not in it trying to be hard. If you axe me about that on the basketball court, then I’ll say ya, I’m hard, I’m tough, on the basketball court. But off the court, that ain’t who I want my kids to feel like their daddy is. I don’t want my kids to say you know, my Daddy’s a gansta, my Daddy’s tough. That ain’t the image I’m trying to portray. Because I look the way I look, I act the way I act, I dress the way I dress, people think I’m trying to be tough. That’s just my environment, that’s where I came from. That’s what I go through in everyday life. I can’t be somebody else, all I can be is the best Allen Iverson I can be.“
