Pro-Line Point Spread Noon Deadline A Myth

Pro-Line Point Spread Noon Deadline A Myth

Just a note for all you Canadian gamblers out there. A rumour has been circulating to the effect that Pro-Line recently implemented a noon deadline for all Sunday NFL games in an attempt to lock down bettors who might want to wait for last-minute line movements.

It’s just a rumour.

I went to buy my tickets today at 12:25 and had no problem getting them processed and printed.

I’m not sure how/why this story started, but I guess there’s a possibility the OLGC might be thinking of instituting an early deadline in the future. Some of today’s lines are just way off the Vegas totals. And you’ve got to think the awful, miserable people at Pro-Line are going to figure a way to stack the odds ever higher in their favour.

But Pro-Line really blows a lot of smoke at gamblers, making us think it’s all fair and balanced. Just take a look at a ticket I bet today with Carolina, Detroit, and Houston to win. A $2 parlay bet in Vegas pays $27.84. A $2 parlay bet on Pro-Line pays $67.20.

So Pro-Line is giving you a better payout, right? Well, no. In order to cash my Pro-Line bet all those underdogs have to win by more than 3 points. It’s impossible for the lay-man to calculate the inflationary effect that should have on the odds, but taking the difference between all those bets as ties and wins we get the following factor: 4.9. That means it’s 5 times harder to win the Pro-Line bet. But the payout is only 2.4 times greater than your Vegas money line win.

That’s why REPUTABLE online sportsbooks are the way to go. I’m not shilling for anyone, but Intertops and Bowmans are a couple of really good sites that won’t steal your money.
