Brevin Knight Scouting Report
You may be wondering where Brevin Knight gets off going for 15 assists and 3 steals/night. Well, he’s playing 34 minutes/game for a 2nd year expansion team and he’s taking 10 shots/night. Considering the ball touches his hands after every opposition bucket it’s not surprising that he’s racking up all those assists.
Charlotte’s giving up over 100 points/game. Inbound the ball to Brevin who’s always been a pass-first guard, and assists are bound to happen.
Last year he averaged 10 points, 9 dimes, and a couple of steals every game. That’s not bad at all from someone whom you probably could have picked up off the waiver wire. And while he’s not even close to being that good there’s no reason to think Knight’s production is going to stop. That is, until the Bobcats trade him towards the end of the year.
Raymond Felton is going to sit and watch Knight play, which seems like a tremendous waste. But I guess the idea is to have Knight motivated on the court and play for his job on a daily basis. The result should be around 10 assists/game and at least a pair of steals. Brevin will play defense and at 5′10″ he’s going to pick his share of pockets.
So, what can you expect from Brevin Knight? He’s 30 and playing in front of a high draft pick. He should post excellent assist totals, making him a great utility find. But you’ve got to trade him if it looks like the Bobcats brass are ready to insert Felton in the lineup. All that means is a trade-deadline move involving Knight that will effectively kill his production.
