Give Up The Bonds Chase Already
Yesterday U.S. District Judge William Alsup held Barry Bonds’ former trainer Greg Anderson in contempt of court for a second time after he refused to answer questions in relation to a grand jury investigation into sterioids and specifically Bonds. For the story, see this ESPN article. I have to say its time for Congress and the U.S. judicial system to get off its high horse and drop this investigation already. I understand the problem is deep seeded and it has hit highschool and even lower levels, but instead of investigating Bonds why not try and start up an education and rehabiliation program. The fact that so much of the grand jury testimony leaked to become the book Game of Shadows makes the idea of putting Anderson in jail for not testifying a bit of a joke. How can you tell someone that their testimony is confidential when a national best selling book is basically based on leaked grand jury transcripts? I am not backing up what Bonds did or did not do. Nor am I suggesting that Anderson is right in not testifying, but I can unequivocally say I think the further pursuit of this by the U.S. government is a huge waste of time and tax payer dollars.
