Clemens To Drop Suit?

Listen, I’m no lawyer, oh ya yes I am. So Roger Clemens is finally considering throwing in the towel on his defamation suit against Brian McNamee. After all the revelations that have come to light recently about Clemens, one has to wonder what he was thinking in starting this suit in the first place. It seems typical of athletes to think that they are able to cruise on the edge of the law.

First Palmero sat before Congress and emphatically said he never used performance enhancing substances (but who could forget his stint as a Viagra spokesman) and it obviously came to light that he had. Then Clemens said the same even though good buddy Andy Petite wasn’t so stupid.

So Clemens felt like he was backed into a corner, I get it. He had a clean image as a workaholic all these years, and being a Blue Jays fan I had the pleasure of seeing his work ethic first hand - it was superb. So he took a little something here or there, everyone else was and he could have made it all go away by being like Petite. He is dying to get into the Hall of Fame but now it seems like his pride and ego might have gotten in the way of that being a sure thing. If I am advising Clemens I tell him to take a hit and get rid of this lawsuit and try to fade into the background as much as possible, I mean even his own lawyer is quoted as saying “He’s getting pummeled.”
