Real Men Swing Pink
I really didn’t think this was that worthy of a post until I came across some of the comments at the Babes Love Baseball site and saw how quickly a nice act of charity and bringing attention to a tremendous cause denigrated into a political discussion planned parenthood. So I would like to put my two cents out there and say that the baseball fights breast cancer program is a very worthwhile cause. It has nothing to do with where you stand on any woman’s right or other political issue for that matter. It is about raising money for research to combat a deadly disease and on mother’s day nonetheless.
According to Komen.org, an estimated 182,460 cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in American women in 2008 alone. This year the Players again wore pink wristbands and necklaces, along with pink ribbons on their uniforms. Pink ribbon logos were seen on the bases and home plates which were to be auctioned and in a true tribute to Mother’s Day the dugout lineup cards were also pink.
A great cause indeed and the ladies also point their readers to a great gesture by the folks at the Home Run Derby blog, they donated $25 to breast cancer research for all home runs hit yesterday.
